Purple Patches 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

I like playing with contrast as much as colour, like the three shades of purple against a very pale background fabric.

Even with three different colours I would choose fabrics ranging from very light to very dark.

My favourite today is the second one.

Purple Patches 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting. I have noticed that i am starting to use purple a lot. It was my Mum’s favourite colour, and I got to like it when I made my parents a quilt, and Mum got to choose the colours. I am going to have to add some different colours to some of the purple projects.

I love the second design!

Regular visitors may have noticed that there are a lot of new pattern projects making their debut over the last few months. I was getting a bit tired of some of the project files I had started much earlier ...

EQ 4s OP 29, 30 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting, though I keep turning my head to a 45 degree angle to see what the blocks look like on the straight!

I like the second one. Not my usual number of blocks in a design, but could be made with larger blocks to make a double or queen size quilt.

Vera’s Star 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

I started this project fie to see how far I could go with one star block. It is not the simplest star block out there, but is is far less complex than many, including may I have designed.

The second design has the quilting lines which are simply outlines of the block design, and which disregard the placement of the fabrics, and even the missing pieces.

Autumn Patches 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

Very busy, but I like the four plain squares near the centre … somewhere to rest the eyes.

Borders are a great way to make a collection of blocks made for a double bed big enough for a king size bed. I would be happy doing the applique, but would simplify the pieced one.

Vera’s Star 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Playing with one block, usually removing patches from a complex block.

I like the second design best!

Tatiara Terrace Stars 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

One day I asked my Dad what his favourite colour was, and he thought about it for a couple of days then told me it was green. Why? Because it is the colour of the crops coming up!

My garden is green because I have watered it through summer, but the surrounding country is a dirty gold. The crops have browned off and there is dust everywhere, but the rains are due in the next month or two, and within days there will be green there too.

I think my favourite colour is green too … I love how quickly the ...

All pieced again today, but without some of the complexities of yesterday’s pair.

I like the second one because it has room for some quilting to shine.

Friendship from Zarkadia Quilts

The Friendship quilt block is a relatively easy to make, but also a bit tricky, especially regarding seam matching. But once you get the grip of it, and by using the right values on your blocks, the Friendship quilt block can really make ypur quilt special. It is also really scrappy friendly, and you can use up most of your scraps, just with a single block!
